Recycling and Waste Diversion

Our Honest Approach to Responsible Waste Management

People often ask what happens to their material after we drive away. The answer depends on what's in the bin. Clean, separated materials can often be fully recycled, while mixed loads are taken to specialized sorting facilities to recover as much as possible. Here's an honest look at how we handle the materials we collect and what you can do to maximize recycling on your project.

What Gets Recycled in Full

Clean, single-material loads are recycled in their entirety. That covers aggregate, dirt, concrete, metal and drywall. If your job produces a clean load of any of these, tell us when we quote you and we will set you up with a dedicated bin so it stays clean.

What Happens to Mixed Loads?

Mixed construction debris and mixed household loads go to specialised sorting facilities. Those facilities pull out everything recoverable before anything residual goes to landfill. We are not a transfer station, which means we are not permitted to tip a load on the ground and sort it ourselves. That is why what goes into the bin matters so much.

Want to Recycle More? Order More Than One Bin.

Customers who want to separate at source order multiple bins for the same site and sort as they go. It is the single most effective thing you can do to increase how much of your job gets recycled. If we have to pick material out of a bin ourselves, that cost is passed on, so separating up front usually saves money as well as material.

Progress, Not Perfection

We are not going to claim we recycle everything, because no hauler in this province honestly can. What we will do is tell you where your material goes, show you how to fill your bin before the job starts, and keep pushing. We are actively working on partnerships that will let us divert more than we can today.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Which materials are recycled in full?

Clean loads of aggregate, dirt, concrete, metal and drywall are recycled in their entirety, provided the load stays clean and unmixed.

  • What happens to a mixed bin?

It goes to a specialised sorting facility that extracts recoverable material before anything left over is landfilled.

  • Can I sort my own material on site?

Yes, and we encourage it. Order more than one bin for the same site and separate as you go. If we have to pull material out of a bin to make it acceptable at the facility, that cost is passed on to you
